About

This idea came into being in 2017. We were living on an isolated farm in rural Virginia. The silo became a beacon for us, nearly an obsession of observation. In many ways, it felt like a talisman - there to protect our family. Slowly, the form grew into a place that we could create to lure our friends in the city, out to the country. In 2019 we left the farm but carried the idea to our new life on Dover. The Press is bigger now and able to accommodate even larger ideas. We have two presses, a woodshop, silkscreen capabilities, and space to wander. Our only requirements for engagement are curiosity, a list of ideas, and a shared interest in coffee, kids, and pets. We sit roughly 50 miles outside of the heart of Washington D.C., in the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains.

Marianne Epstein (Washington D.C.) was our first artist in resident.

Artists in Residence for 2020 thus far are:

Helen Frederick (Silver Spring, MD)

Anne Smith (Washington, D.C.)

If you are interested in working with us, please email me a proposal and the block (or blocks) of time you would like to have. We work full time during the week so weekend durations are preferred.
